Massan Cyreeni is a freelancer and mercenary working in Neo-Atlantica, primarily known for his ruthlessness and extortionately high prices. Cyreeni is remarkably old for a career mercenary, and epitomises the famous old adage ‘beware the old man in a profession where men die young’. Born in 3128, Cyreeni is still active in the 3370s, having poured extortionate amounts of money into top-of-the-line de-ageing treatments.
Cyreeni has lived on High Atlantic since before the Crisis of Faith, and is thus intimately familiar with the world’s history. By his telling, things have only got better since, with the Tourist Board’s regime providing far more frequent opportunities to backstab your way to the top of the pile. While Cyreeni’s ability to survive for so long is such a hazardous career is commendable, it is made all the more notable by the incredibly high casualty rates of his associates. He has been on many jobs that have gone wrong, but Cyreeni gets out alive every time, even when few to none of his companions manage the same.
Notably, despite investing heavily in de-ageing treatments, Cyreeni prefers to maintain a weathered, hardened appearance, perhaps for the intimidation value offered by his scarred, white-bearded face. The body backing it up, however, has all the quickness and lightness of youth.
Abilities
In many respects Cyreeni is an unimpressive mercenary, little more than above average in most disciplines. He has two great advantages, however, in his unparalleled experience and infamous cruel streak - perhaps the only thing that could keep someone going in such a career for so long.
Cyreeni is also highly adaptable, having changed his M.O. numerous times over the course of a long career. Nowadays he tends to stay out of harms way as much as possible, favouring high-power rifles and heavy body armour, and often leaving the dirty work to younger associates. Notably he has never really taken on a leadership role, however, held back by an unhealthy obsession with his own survival.
Cyreeni’s extensive de-ageing treatments, rare outside of first-rate powers and the extremely wealthy, have soaked up most of his ill-gotten gains. He, has, however, fitted himself with a number of performance enhancing modifications to improve his survivability in combat, including Sub-Dermal Armour and Skeletal Reinforcements. Unlike the most souped-up mercs, though, he is not on a level footing with power armour, and relies on armour of his own and heavy weapons to take on such threats.
